Dove off the highest cliff at Centennial??....not exactly, but I did JUMP off of it! Too chicken to dive! I hit the water feet-first, and it seemed like it took forever to get there, but I did survive!

Speaking of Mr. Blanchard, I had him 5th hour and every day he would start us reading something and then leave for the bathroom. When he came back he always had toilet paper hanging out of his pants or stuck to his shoe. We could've died!

Remember the "IN" crowd - Pegged pants and cashmere sweaters were an absolute necessity. Blue jeans? - Don't even think of wearing them to school. Conform, Conform, Conform!

From George Davies, 1953
I ran into a guy in the City dinner who had a Program for Whittier Longfellow Trojan "football" game!  Can anyone imagine how long ago, that was! Phil Roth was there
and of course very funny. Baxter Bell was there, still smart as ever!
Also Agard, Bob Dreher and I discussed renting a fork lift to get
Bobby in the ground in case he died.
From Andy Amid 1958: Football Games. Aside from the post-game "cruising" thru the White Huts I recall attending a Devilbiss football game, possibly in 1957, out of town...perhaps Defiance. Devilbiss had chartered a train for Tiger fans. On occasion the train lights would go out for a few moments which I thoroughly enjoyed with my date; Upon arriving at our destination our band lead us in a parade to the stadium. We arrived at the stadium fired up for the game. Ah, yes...the 50;s had to be the best of times.
DeViltries  I was in a baby costume, in a stroller smoking a cigar. I was a child prodigy.

Dave Hardy

The death of David Hardy hit hard. What memories he
provided. Boy oh boy wouldn't today's student be much better and over all prepared if she or he were able to experience-with no fall back from some parents - the discipline and enthusiasm for life from people like hardy and bob rettig .  bud kaatz,

Centennial was the neatest place ever - - can you imagine telling your grandkids that we went to an abandoned quarry and danced to the top bands of the time - - in Toledo, Ohio?
