Saving a DHS Database List in Word or Excel

(For Windows users)

You can easily save a list generated on the DHS website in your computer as a Word or Excel document.  Then, you can use it to generate letters or mailing letters or emails or just to have a list of your DHS friends.

(1) Get the list you want on the screen - - like a list of DHS'ers in Florida, for example (There are sure a lot of them - -it must be warm there!)

(2) Copy the whole list by placing the cursor at the first letter of the top left row - the header row or the first data row - -and, while holding down the mouse button, drag the cursor to the bottom right, thus selecting (turning dark) the entire list.

(3) While the area to be copied is selected, press the Copy Icon or press and hold CTL and press  the "C" button. This copies the whole list onto the Windows clipboard.

(4) Minimize the DHS web site and open Word or Excel to a new document or worksheet.

(5) Place the cursor near the top left of the new document/worksheet and press the Paste Icon or CTL + "V" or press tthe right mouse button for the Paste command.

This will put the whole list into your Word or Excel document, just as though you had typed it all manually.  You may have to change the Page Setup to Landscape to make the list fit on the page.

(6) Save it, print it, etc. as you choose.
