Minor Openings

Minors are the last choice for a contract at Duplicate.

Minor-suit bidding tries to find a fit in the major suits,
because duplicate scoring is tilted in that direction.

The basic pattern is an opening in a minor, then 4+ card major suit
responses and rebids until an 8+ card major fit is found. If none
is found, Notrump is bid unless there is clearly an open suit,
in which case a minor suit contract is played.

Minor suit competitive bids and overcalls are a different matter.
There the intention is to push the opponents higher, and a minor is
as good as a major for that purpose.
