Weak Responses to Major Suit Openings

Weak Means Jump Bid. Some responses will be weak hands. With no fit for opener and no other 4 card major, responder should make weak preemptive bids -- weak jump shifts or higher level preempts -- with long-suited hands.

A weak jump shift (preemptive jump shift) should be made with a hand useless at other than the bid suit and with no chance for game or slam outside that suit. Such a hand typically has 6 cards in the suit and less than 8 HCP with no fit for the major ... in fact, usually a singleton.
