Professional Bridge

Bridge 'Pro's'. There is not (usually) any prize money or any other valuable awards at ACBL recognized events but there are players who offer their skills for hire as a partner. They charge $100's per session.

These are legitimate bridge professionals and they represent a good way to learn from the experts first hand.

Professional players often have a booth where professional partners may be hired for an event, although this is usually only true at large Regional and National events.

Bridge for Money Prizes

There are now some ACBL sanctioned bridge-for-prize-money tournaments. We have received advertisements to attend such events but they are new at this time. The fees seem to be about $20 per session, with prize money for sessions and for overall winners.

Prize money awards at bridge tournaments is a controversial topic in bridge circles today: some are opposed for moral reasons; some for "It'll ruin our wonderful game" reasons, etc. Others like the idea of competing for cash. (We're neutral.)
