" _____ to ____ HCP(occ. light [ ]) " means "What is your HCP range ?" ]

If you bid a new suit after an overcall by your partner, is it forcing or can overcaller pass ?
If you cue bid Two Diamonds, what does that mean ? Is it a one round force ? a game force ? a Limit Raise ?
Do you have some other understanding ? If so, indicate it on the
Other ______________ line.

Overcalls can usually be light to medium, so a typical range is 9 to 15 or so.  If you usually have 10 points, but sometimes overcall with a good 8, check the box for "occasionally light [ ] ".

Our Card for Simple Overcalls:

SIMPLE OVERCALL

_ 8 _ to __ 15 _ HCP (occ. light [X] )

Responses: New Suit Forcing [X]

Cuebid is: One-Round Force [ ]

Game Force [ ] Limit Raise [X]

Other ___ JUMP CUE = OPENER___

We play a light overcall range all the time; a new suit is forcing and a cue bid shows a Limit Raise (9 to 11 HCP with 3+ trump support.)

We play that Limit Raises aren't forcing to game because the overcaller might only have 8 HCP or so and game probably won't make with 20 points.

We also use a Jump Cue bid, which shows an opener with 3+ trumps, e.g., [1¨ - 1ª - P - 3¨*].
