Invitational Minor Suit Jump Over 1NT
Situation: Partner open 1NT and you have some points and a decent minor suit. With a fit, it could take several tricks and make a 3NT game easy. What to do?
Care to Dance? With 7 - 9 HCP and a fairly good minor suit of 5 or 6 cards and no major suit interest, our direct jump to 3 of a minor is a request to bid 3 NT with a 3 card fit, or pass with no fit or a minimum or no high cards in the suit.

South should respond 3 Diamonds with this hand. If opener has three Diamonds or the King and one, there are good chances for 5 or 6 tricks in Diamonds, making a 3 NT game easy. If opener has a minimum and two little Diamonds, he can pass and you are probably in the right spot.
Strength. 7+ HCP's and at least a 5 card suit.
Usage. Fairly common, although there are other ways to do this same thing. Alertable.
