Overcalling With One Notrump
It's a No Trump Opener . . Plus. With a strong (15+ HCP) hand and with opener's suit well stopped, bid 1 NT rather than overcalling or doubling. Bid this with a hand you would have opened 1NT had the opponent not bid, except it guarantees good stoppers in the bid suit.
Without stoppers, either double for takeout or pass. Your partner will help find major suit fits.
All our system conventions are ON after a 1 No Trump overcall - Stayman, Jacoby Transfers, etc. This means a 2¨ call in response to a 1 NT overcall is a Jacoby Transfer to Hearts, just as though 1 NT had been opened by the dealer.
