Balancing

Balancing is bidding on what the opponents didn't bid.

When auctions stop at the one or two level, there's
an approximate equality of points and values in each
team's hands.  If your opponent's try to stop at 2 Clubs,
maybe you can make 2 Hearts, or go down only one
-- thus beating them even though you went set.

'Going set' isn't a character judgement or a measure
of your bad play - - it's a deliberate tactic and
a fundamental part of competitive bridge.

Learn to quickly calculate the points lost letting
your opponents make their bids versus
your side going down instead.

It's crucial to winning Bridge.
